Submitting Your Site
1. What types of sites can be listed in your
directory?
Any business, organization, or education based Western New York
website may be added to the directory. At this time we are not
accepting personal websites. We will not accept sites containing
pornographic, hate, or racial content. Each site submission is reviewed
and will be added to the directory at our editors discretion. Top
2. How do I submit my site or business?
Submitting your listing is
very easy. Simply click on
Add a Link at the bottom of
any
page. You will then be asked
for information regarding
your listing. Please
choose a relevant category and sub category for your site. For example, if
you are a manufacturing company, don't simply request to have your site
listed under our "Business" main category. The place for your site would be
in our "Manufacturing" category, which is a sub category of "Business. This
site will constantly be changing as more and more sites are added so if you
can't find a relevant category for your site now, please
contact us and we will add it if necessary.
When submitting your site, double
check your website URL to
make sure you have given us
the correct address. If we
cannot access your site, we cannot
add it. Top
3. Why do you ask for my email address?
When you register with us and wish to add a listing, you will be
given a link id and password. This will be for your use later if you wish to
edit or remove your listing. You will also receive an email notification
regarding whether your site submission is accepted or rejected. If you do
not give us your email address, you will not receive a password or user name
and will not be able to edit the listing in any way. Top
4. I submitted my listing. Where is it?
Your submission is not automatically added to our database. The submissions are all reviewed and then our editors decide if your listing is appropriate for our directory. Once the submissions are reviewed and deemed appropriate, we will then add your listing to our database. The time may vary depending on the number of listings we receive. You should see your site
listed within 3 days at the most, unless there are unusual circumstances. You will receive an email when your listing is added to our database. Top
5. What is a "reciprocal URL" and what is that HTML
code I was given after submitting my site?
A reciprocal URL is the Internet address of the web page on which you
will place a link back to www.1wnyweb.com.
For example, if you plan on putting a link to
www.1wnyweb.com on your home page and
your domain is xyz.com, then the reciprocal URL would most likely be http://www.xyz.com
but it does depend on the folder structure of your website.The coding you
are given on the final site submission page (and via email after your link
is approved) will boost your site ranking in search
results and on our
Hot Links
page. Using this HTML code you can link back to us by using the 1WNY Web
Directory Member logo code or just use a text link that reads "1WNY Web
Directory Member". Just be sure to use the specific link id code you are
given so we can track the hits you
send to us and thus boost your ranking. Top

Sponsored Listings, which gives you a listing on the sub category of your choice, and is listed before any of the FREE listings. An added benefit is that your site will also show up on the side of the subcategory as an advertisement. Top

YES! Any site may link to us, even personal websites. However,
if you have any links or content on your site containing pornographic, hate,
